New figures from ACEA have the UK selling the highest volume of BEVs in the first quarter of 2024 in Europe. So much for EV demand stalling. There were over 84,000 BEVs sold in Q1, a 10% increase on Q1 2023 and sales were higher than in France and Germany.

Joe Biden pulled off perhaps the greatest oil trade of all time and in the process broke OPEC's grip and basically no one knows about it. We did a long segment on it last night and it's fascinating and worth your time. msnbc.com/all-in/watch/h…

If that's the prevailing view in German politics and even worse in its automotive industry, it will only accelerate their descent to irrelevance. Hopefully, it will be a great opportunity for others.

When you buy a gun, you’re shown pictures of gunshot victims. If your neighbor suspects you of buying a gun, they can call a hotline. If you’re from a state where guns are illegal, you can be arrested if you buy a gun out of state. Oh sorry, these are all abortion laws.

The focus from Conservative leadership candidates today on getting Britain building again is hugely welcome. We need more homes, transport links, and clean energy asap. But there’s some confusion about net zero 🧵

Great thread. I was also at Tory Conference and it was clear there is confusion about the cost of energy. In particular, there’s an assumption that high “system costs” imposed by renewables are a law of physics rather than a reflection of rubbish electricity market design.

COLUMN: The share of Russian natural gas in European imports has climbed to 20% year-to-date, up from 15% in 2023. Three years into the war, Europe can't kick its addiction to Russian gas, either via pipeline (throughout Ukraine) or LNG ships. @Opinion bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…
