This is very sad news. I have warm memories of Ray’s encouragement to me personally and reflecting on what a brilliant role model and leader he was in health services research

Thus is tremendously sad news. Ray was a lovely man and an important thinker and researcher in medical sociology and HSR. He was the external examiner for the first undergraduate medical sociology course I taught, and later he was one of my mentors. I owe him a great deal.
