When is a slug not a slug? When it's a Pear Slug. There were several of these on Blackthorn today at Chudleigh Knighton Heath. Turns out they are larvae of the Sawfly Caliroa cerasi. I keep learning #invertebrates #insects #macro

Manx Shearwater chick EM82816 was last seen on 26th August, its wing about 10mm short of fledging length. It was found exhausted on a Brazilian beach on 8th October, 43 days later. So 216km a day and in reality a lot more than that

Look at this amazing leafhopper Ledra Aurita species, very rarely seen because it's camouflage is so incredible. I spotted a tiny movement out of the corner of my eye in the leaf litter & there it was! #Suffolk

Does anyone know if it is possible to post a recording from the Merlin app on to Twitter or other media? The app twice told me I was hearing Hawfinch on Dartmoor, I couldn't see, or indeed hear them myself at the time. HawfinchesUK Mike Langman #birdcalls

There's many ways to see human history. One way is: How did we go from living with, understandng, utterly depending on nature for survival to believing the natural world is the major obstacle to our ability to thrive...
