GPs please retweet this. A GP surgery gets <£3/week/patient. Not per contact. A hospital A&E dept gets £150 for a SINGLE VISIT. Every visit. One night in hospital bed = £400. Primary care gets about 7% of total NHS budget to deliver 90% of care.

A lateral flow test does NOT rule out covid They are NOT meant to be used if you have symptoms Negative lateral flow does not mean a lot Even if positive LFT pls seek a PCR / call 111 If you have symptoms of covid please self isolate & seek a PCR test online / via 111 Ash Paul

Any other GPs despairing? In 4 weeks, I have only had one patient who has done a PCR test in response to COVID symptoms. People are doing lateral flow tests when symptomatic. There is a desperate need for public education! Dr Nikita Kanani (she/her) Royal College of General Practitioners Sajid Javid Department of Health and Social Care @NHSBSolCCG

Really feeling this recently, winter pressures during the Summer, GPs on leave & no-one to cover. Not good for anyone. Thanks Royal College of General Practitioners Rachel Hall The Guardian for highlighting -> GP clinics at ‘breaking point’ and recovery plan is essential theguardian.com/society/2021/j…

It’s my last day today as a GP Partner #teamgp #medtwitter. I have been a partner for 13 years but time to move on for my own health and well being. I have seen so many changes but I have never seen primary care with this level of demand, pressure and denigration in the press….

I get asked this question by friends and family: “What do GPs do all day?”. As a hospital doc, it’s important that I support my Primary Care colleagues. @HelenRSalisbury writes some answers here in the The BMJ. Link if preferred: bmj.com/content/375/bm…

The highs and lows of #GP This evening, went from managing an emergency successfully, to being told I had missed a diagnosis, resulting in significant disability. Amazing how the latter overshadows the former. We are in desperate need of support for these adverse incidents

‘A patient recently asked me when the practice was going to open again. I replied that I was, at that moment, seeing them face to face in my consulting room. ‘I know’ they replied ‘but you know what I mean’ @SatiHeerStavert The power of a media narrative bjgplife.com/the-invisible-…

Trying to get my head around sending people seeking asylum to Rwanda to be processed and saying it’s for their own safety A country that has a questionable human rights record Whilst at the same time demonising them by calling them “illegals” I just can’t, it’s grotesque

When someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, politely declines a beer and ask for a soft drink etc, don’t say “oh go on, just the one…” or probe and make things awkward for them. We would never do that with any other drug. Just accept it and be kind. #sobriety #alcoholfree

Approxinately every third consultation in #primarycare is related to #mentalillness and it's tricky (read impossible) to manage most of them in 10 minutes, what's our representative bodies doing about it General Practice NHS England ? The burden isn't safe for #TeamGP to bear alone!

I’ve seen this lots of times in young people now, irreversible nerve damage & in some cases paralysis due to nitrous/ laughing gas. The dangers of it just aren’t talked about enough.
