The federal government presented no evidence Ozturk had committed any crime. She was wrongfully, unlawfully, immorally detained for publishing an op-ed, which is a quintessentially American act. Thank god for our independent judiciary. cnn.com/2025/05/09/us/…

Devastating loss for neuroscience and ultimately for AI safety. Hearing that Lichtman's NIH grant to scale up EM connectomics by 10x beyond MICrONS was just canceled. Essential work for scaling EM to whole brains and for training a large workforce to support connectomics.

Wouldn't it be great if we could not only image large connectomic volumes, but also completely reconstruct them? And if a whole mouse brain project didn't cost billions? With the PATHFINDER preprint (biorxiv.org/content/10.110…), we preview a future where it doesn't have to.

🥳 Congrats to my friends & colleagues at E11 Bio for getting this out! I use Volara all the time for tasks such as distributed sampling of point clouds from segmentation volumes and many other operations.

Excited to share project specifying a research direction I think will be particularly fruitful for theory-driven cognitive science that aims to explain natural behavior! We're calling this direction "Naturalistic Computational Cognitive Science"

Excited to present our paper at #UAI2025 on Thursday 🇧🇷 Can we predict which datasets transfer best when downstream decisions, not just predictions, matter? Can we know this before learning? We introduce OTD³, a new dataset distance for PtO tasks arxiv.org/pdf/2409.06997

🚨 New paper alert! 💥Segmenting anatomical curvilinear structures is challenging. 🚀The paper introduces a novel Frenet–Serret Framebased decomposition, that transforms 3D curvilinear structures into cylindrical primitives for data-efficient learning! ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/11081…
