We are encouraged by the national focus on indoor air quality, as seen in today’s bipartisan introduction of the Indoor Air Quality and Healthy Schools Act by Paul Tonko and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick 🇺🇸 and the @BioCommission’s public meeting. Our team remains committed to advancing indoor
Paul Tonko Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick 🇺🇸 Here in Illinois Senator Adriane Johnson, State Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, and Illinois Stakeholders for Air Quality in Schools are advancing school indoor air quality legislation with #HB3713 Clean Air for Healthy Equitable Schools
This week, along with Paul Tonko, I introduced the Indoor Air Quality Act—bipartisan legislation that takes a critical step forward in my efforts to protect our community and students from poor indoor air quality. Although progress has been made to address outdoor air
👏 👏 👏 This is what we like to see! A bipartisan effort to improve air quality in schools. Thank you, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick 🇺🇸 and Paul Tonko!
Jerome Adams Also…please call your congressperson & ask them to co-sponsor/support this BIPARTISAN bill, which was recently introduced to Congress. Improved air quality = better attendance, physical health (e.g. fewer asthmatic/respiratory symptoms), cognitive function & test scores.
Mazda Sabouri There are a lot of people working on the clean air vs environmental impact issue, and lots of innovation on creating more energy efficient clean air. I was at a summit in DC addressing this issue a few weeks ago. As to cost, cleaner air has a huge ROI.
Jerome Adams Paul Tonko Thanks Dr. Adams! This fall we in Illinois aim to pass #HB3713 (Senator Adriane Johnson & State Rep. Camille Y. Lilly) to give equipment and services to all IL public schools to improve indoor air quality. It's written and endorsed by leading experts and backed by a diverse coalition. Are you concerned about air quality, ventilation and other key exposures—and our health? And what to do about it. The new Ground Truths podcast with Joseph Allen covers this in depth. Link in my profile d/t X-suppression
Michael Bailey with iaqadvocates (Indoor Air Care Advocates) received a grant to build 12 Corsi-Rosenthal Boxes at the Alabama Asthma Summit to clean the air during the event and to send home with school nurses afterwards. An awesome project we are proud to support!
Chris Hayes Thanks, Chris! In Illinois, we are working to pass the Clean Air for Healthy Equitable Schools Act. Improved air quality is associated w/ better cognitive function, attendance, physical health (fewer asthma/respiratory symptoms), etc. Fewer pathogens, pollutants, allergens, etc.
Leigh Giangreco Exactly. Thanks, Leigh! This is why we introduced the Clean Air for Healthy Equitable Schools bill in IL. Already passed the House. MOST IL schools do not meet minimum ventilation requirements. Better air quality = better attendance, physical health, cognitive performance, etc.
