What a Fantastic day we had. 800 people came & enjoyed a day of plants & pups. We had 69 dogs in the arena & a busy Gardening Club stall selling plants. A huge thank you to our volunteers who worked their socks off to make this a success. Could not have done it without them.

Last year we spent a total of 2845 hours which equates to a full time job for 1.6 people. All done to protect, promote and improve our Recreation Grounds 💚 We would like to say thank you to each and everyone of you and tell you that you are AMAZING 🙌 Bromley Parks

On our most wanted list this week are: Tinned Cold Meats Long-Life Desserts Adults + Kids toothbrushes Multi-Surface spray/wipes Shaving Gel Donations, big or small, provide critical support to people in need + ensure our foodbank can continue to operate.

Help‼️ Sadly the end of term celebrations included pouring glue and sticking hair onto our table tennis tables. If you have any professional experience in removing these kind of things from surfaces please get in touch.

Why is the grass by entrance to the Rec. not mowed? Hedgehogs use grass in their nests, they also make day nest amongst long grass. They’ll also feed on caterpillars that use the grass as a food source. We call it our Hedgehog Highway & hope we’ll see hedgehogs using it very soon

The annual pitch renovations has begun in #chislehurstRec These works should take about 3 days but can be walked on immediately. So no closure at all. However do be mindful of the the heavy machinery moving up and down.

“London in Bloom” judging is tomorrow! We are really excited and hope they like what we and in particular our amazing gardening club has achieved this year. We hope to maintain our “outstanding” grade and perhaps gain a few more points 🤞 Bromley Parks

How do I get rid of Yorkshire fog, is the first thing that comes up if you Google this beautiful softly hairy perennial grass which grows in our bee corridor in Walden Rec. 🐝 It is a great food plant for caterpillars, and we think it lovely for that reason alone 💚

Happy 11th birthday to the Boating Bears 🥳 In 2012 Will created a much loved masterpiece in Whytes Wood.  Taking his chainsaw to an oak that had been felled following a lightning strike many years before, he transformed the enormous trunk over 1 1/2 days into the Boating Bears.

Super productive morning yesterday with Akela Judy, Cubs, Gary, Barbara & Mai. We cleaned the grass from around Jenny’s memorial rowan and other rowans in the Redhill Fence hedge. Planted a new hazel and weeded, mulched & watered phew!

We are beyond upset with what has happened to our remembrance display in Chislehurst Rec. Such a lack of respect for us and what it stands for 💔 We will try and salvage it. #lestweforget
