When HS2 started I decided to let others cover it for Modern Railways . This was because I realised that reporting on such a major scheme at the level readers expected would restrict my time available for coverage of the working railway. A prudent decision in retrospect.
I was working in the quite exquisite surrounds of Ushaw Historic House, Chapels & Gardens today. A real treat. This is somewhere that everyone should visit at least thrice. Such gilt-edged opportunities don’t come along often & so I came prepared with 3 camera/lens combos. Here’s No1. Hope they pass muster
