Shane O Boyle highlights the main findings from the EPA's Water Quality in Ireland 2013-2018 report in the video below. The report shows that river water quality is deteriorating, with only 53% of our surface water bodies having satisfactory water quality.

A new species of Irish mayfly, Baetis atlanticus, was recently discovered by our EPA Ireland ecologist Hugh Feeley & confirmed by Craig Macadam of Buglife; the first new Irish mayfly species in 120 yrs. New paper forthcoming in the Irish Naturalists' Journal (Vol. 37 (1))
