This is wrong headed because it ignores the fact that climate and health externalities are not priced and are very economically valid reasons for incentivizing - not subsidizing - technologies that mitigate those externalities. This should not be this hard.

So here's the deal on the Senate-passed One Big Bad Bill, now heading back to the House for further debate: 1. Wind & solar projects that commence construction before the end of 2025 can claim the investment or production tax cuts under current law & have up to four years to

Some say 24/7 matching is bad for solar, it's actually a massive opportunity. Batteries can make the sun shine all night, enabling 5X more solar capacity. Nice work Ember ember-energy.org/latest-insight…

52 GW of round-the-clock clean power by 2030. ₹9,000 crore in annual savings. Lower emissions at a lower cost. We’re no longer talking only about how much capacity we can build. We’re discussing how to design a system that operates 24/7, reliably, and at scale. As someone

Hourly clean power matching = lower emissions + cheaper power. A new study in nature shows it can cut domestic electricity costs by 31% while barely affecting exports. Policy makers: the smart choice is hourly. 👉 nature.com/articles/s4146…

Great clip on what’s wrong with “green supply” today with Killian Daly A fix that would reward the flexibility getting the most from renewables rather than overcompensating generation at times of curtailment. Full episode on the usual channels.

Jesse D. Jenkins Wilson Ricks Killian Daly Excellent conversation. Vote for Scope 2 improvement and ignore the lobbyists and stragglers. GHGPROTOCOL is not a minimum common denominator; it is (and always has been) about the future and innovation.

Another good discussion of electricity rates in the US that draws in part on the forthcoming (but widely circulated and discussed) paper by analysts at LBNL and The Brattle Group. thebreakthrough.org/issues/energy/…

In the global electrification race China is marching ahead. The US and Europe risk falling behind clinging on to yesterday's technologies.

Someday, I'd love to have coffee with some insider at IEA who could explain how they keep getting solar wrong. They aren't dumb. They obviously know their past forecasts are garbage, but they keep issuing drivel. What institutional constraint or bias led to this nonsense?
