BREAKING: Medical scientists have served notice of Industrial Action for Wednesday, March 30 in frustration over long-standing pay and career development issues that are affecting recruitment and retention in the sector.

In 2001 as Minister of Health, Micheál Martin accepted the findings of the Expert Group Report. The report predicted huge growth in the area of Laboratory Medicine. It recommended restructuring the profession of Medical Laboratory Technician, known since as Medical Scientists.
