I was told a tale by an ex gamekeeper of Cornbury Park. He used to barter with his local butcher and green grocer, with venison that he had sourced. He would keep some for himself but be able to get enough from these high street shops to see him through the winter ....

with the venison he exchanged with them. His story demonstrates how much has changed in just the last 50 years. Everyone rushes to work, to school and then back home again. Only time to shop in one place, with the focus more on the cost of the product than the quality or

the locality. The knowledge of knowing where your food came from and the respect not to waste it…. lost Our hope is for our new farm shop and café, to reignite that passion for locally produced seasonal products. To highlight the process from farm to fork.
