I’d say folk who think they can walk into a school for a couple of days and reach a secure judgment about curriculum quality beyond some broad untested hypotheses, they’re deluding themselves and everyone else. Deep Dive?? Shallow scrape more like. Don’t do it. #PauseOfsted

Honestly, I think if we were all realistic and sensible about subjects and qualifications, we’d have to admit that being good at maths is super valuable in the Labour market. Everything else is a roulette wheel.

Source control much better than masks as PPE. This is why universal masking is such a powerful public health intervention.

If we agree with Michael - as I do - that teaching so many subjects to a high standard is exceptionally difficult, then we have two options: We either accept that often some subjects will not be taught to a high standard or we provide a lot more structured support. 1/n

17 years, 4 schools. I agree. Also from those who *have been in your shoes but couldn’t hack it. Nothing wrong with that, but don’t now tell me how to do the job.

ONE MILLION absent from school should be headline news across all platforms. Yet this is the first week for many months that I haven’t been asked to comment on pupil absences. Living with Covid does not mean accepting intolerable levels of pupil & staff absence as the norm.

To all National College of Education L7 learners who are currently finishing their dissertation. You will cross that finish line! I remember that feeling well & happiness once I’d passed. It is worth it. Gaining my Masters and Level 7 apprenticeship is one of my proudest achievements. #OurNCEJourney

If everyone is resigning in The Great Resignation: what are they all resigning to do? It feels like every professions seems pretty exhausted. So where’s the happy place that everyone is going to? 🤷‍♀️

I received the most amazing leaving gift from two of my Year 11’s this year! The sheer amount of thoughtfulness behind this is staggering. I am so proud to add David Attenborough’s personalised and signed photo to my classroom. I’m not crying, YOU’RE CRYING!😩
