Dear editors: I get that journals don't want to commit to an "acceptance" until the bitter end. However, please consider trainees for whom putting "accepted" on their CV can really make a difference. It's gotten to the point where I can't even tell when it's "accepted" myself.

How about this: Eliminate the job "post-doc". After a PhD you are a "researcher", and no punishment for multiple stops. At any point (age blind) you can apply for starting grant funds. You apply for consolidator funds w/in 7 years of starting lab (unlinked to PhD date).

🚨 R² isn't what it seems! I see many ppl blindly trusting it, while it can be misleading. I just made a scatterplot where you can drag circles and see the r2: react-graph-gallery.com/example/scatte… It can help getting a better intuition!
