Delayed post here but Iโm thrilled to say that I defended my thesis last month Royal College of Art and passed my PhD. Retouching the Archive is a practice-led project on the role of women in the making of early photography 1780-1846. It combines archival research and contemporary art practice.




These are the dynamic Togolese women merchants Iโm writing about in my book! My work uses the womenโs individual life histories to historicize how they built & leveraged thier economic power to shape W.African politics from the late colonial period through the neoliberal era. โ๐ฟ
