Winter is perhaps my favorite #training period. #SST is a key part of it. Tried twice to follow a more #polarized plan in nov-dec-jan months. Don't like it.

A phone isn't in a secure place when mounted on a bike handlebar. Dangers are: ❗️Rain, sweat, vibrations, or detach and fly❗️ If, as me, you want to keep using a phone as a bike computer, use a Garmin mount with a KOM Cycling adapter. Very solid ✅ komcycling.com/products/garmi…

Crr of bike tires are speed-dependent. Not a surprise, but at least, this test gives a rule of thumb: +10% between ~13 and ~36 km/h. Kudos to Bicycle RR

Kudos to @PolarGlobal for providing #SDK to better use #data from their products (e.g. Polar #H10). If other #wearables sellers could be inspired by it ... github.com/polarofficial/…

#Linear #regression may be misleading. Same data, two plots and different conclusions. Left plot: Strong correlation between 2 #powermeters (delta 2.2%). Right plot: No, #accuracy for one (PowerTap G3) is bad at high speed after #autozero. Data from 3*20mn@270W trainer session.

I played with the real-time #CdA feature from bugno app during long february rides. My sustainable #aero position is in the 0.31-0.32 range (road winter #cycling kit). More agressive one (0.28) can only be kept 1-2 mns. #Core exercices could improve duration. But too lazy😋

Time to consolidate #threshold work: rode today a 30mn #climb at 98% of my oct'21 FTP, and my "boosting" #metrics were #VAM with a 1200m/h goal to take the 45-54 Strava PR) and #headwind percentage (faced the wind only 37% of the climb):

If you do tire rolling resistance testing with a #power2max NGEco, select the smallest gear available... The pm sends some erroneous 0 power at low cadence and it can fool your results. Left: 34x14 gear (virtual elevation underestimated, Right: 34x28 gear.

Monitoring #heartrate acceleration/deceleration at start/end of intervals. The first inflection point is around ~30s whatever #cycling #intensity. The second one during #recovery depends on the session: ~30s for L3 work, moving to 60s and even 80s for L5 and more... Any thoughts?

Need to change the title "Chain" to "Transmission" loss as the power relative difference (30s average) between #P2Max and Powertap hub is a sum from several sources: chain, bottom bracket bearing, rear derailleur pulleys. Unless I'm mistaken.

Typical histogram for a group ride. Large amount of time with drafting seen as #tailwind by the @weatherflow anemometer.
