It was great to see the results of incorporating AAC use for predictable chart writing today Pine Ridge Middle School.
Shared by our friends Carole Zangari this blogpost is, "focusing on supporting students using #AAC during their high school years." #IEPS #TeensWhoUseAAC assistivewa.re/3kt1Fy6
From Jane Farrall. It’s time to rethink hand-over-hand prompting, especially within AAC instruction. Instead, let’s “Motivate, Model and Move out of the Way!”
Excellent first #ATIA2022 session all about emergent writing tools and strategies. So many ideas to bring back to @AVRCE_Student Services. Key idea - think about the “mark making tool of their future” and provide opportunities to experience and play with that tool.
When the time is right, I would love to offer some facilitated learning in Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education about shared reading instruction for our AAC learners thanks to #ATIA. Check out sharedreader.org
Ending off the day today with an exceptional session at #ATIA2022. Receptive vocabulary instruction for our AAC users. Great connections to tiered vocabulary instruction. Truly inclusive practices. @AVRCE_Student Services
Just finished another great session at #ATIA2022 about collaborating to create AT for students with physical disabilities. Can we get some AT makers here in Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education? Tech Ed teachers and students as partners in assistive technology would be wonderful. @AVRCE_Student Services
Currently attending a great session with Vicki Clarke & the AACchicks at DTA Schools at #ATIA2022. I can’t wait to share all about the Classroom Communication Supports Checklist: A Toolbox for Teachers @AVRCE_Student Services
