I had the great honor of interviewing The New York Times bestselling author Alan Gratz on my #podcast a while back, & his words on #bookbanning still ring true (unfortunately). When BAN THIS BOOK, was published in 2018 Alan could have no way of knowing how relevant & important his story

You might be surprised to learn that the cost of banning books is enormous.  And those costs are paid for by you, the taxpayer. action.everylibrary.org/book_banners_a… via @everylibrary #bannedbooksweek

In a preposterous move, book banners tried to ban the book, "The Day the Crayons Quit," because one of the crayons lost its wrapper and was, therefore, "naked." bit.ly/4ea3av5 #bannedbooksweek

This #BannedBooksWeek, I'm challenging everyone to #ResolveToRead and share a passage from a favorite banned book. I read from Orwell's 1984. Take the challenge, then pass it on! Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost, Congressman Greg Casar and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: I challenge you to read a banned book out loud!

🚨 This is an important story! The claim that these banners are trying to protect children when the reality is the lack of information make children vulnerable to harm.

A growing, well-organized political movement is working to remove books about race, history, gender identity, and sexuality from public and school libraries. This #BannedBooksWeek, urge your legislators to protect our kids’ freedom to read. bit.ly/3XwWHTS

AU has opposed religiously based censorship since the organization’s founding in 1947 because religious extremists and their lawmaker allies should not dictate what books anyone else is allowed to read. Read banned books! Separate church and state!

Hard to overstate the significance of this. J.D. Vance is linking up with Lance Wallanu, the man who popularized the Seven Mountain Mandate that says conservative Christians are called to rule society, and who has been warning that Kamala Harris is possessed by demons.
