The general rule on extensions to discovery is that you have to show "prejudice" if the extension is not granted and the SEC didn't do a good job with that in its motion. "Judge, we haven't been able to find what we need yet" is not a good prejudice argument. We shall see...

Magistrate Judge Netburn has issued three "text only" orders in the Ripple case today, meaning she did not publish explanations of her decisions in these three matters. (1/3)

The first order granted the SEC's request to extend discovery deadlines to August 31 to conduct fact discovery and October 15 to conduct expert discovery. (2/3)

The second and third orders granted requests from Brad Garlinghouse and Chris Larsen on 6/2 and 6/11 that she issue request letters to foreign entities to obtain international discovery documents. (3/3)
