Working paper argues AI creates an "inflection point" for each job type. Before that, AI boosts freelancer earnings (web devs saw a +65% increase). After, AI replaces freelancers (translators saw -30% drop). They suggest that once AI starts replacing a job, it doesn't go back.

Meta will have AIs replace mid-level engineers this year [Well, he said, in 2025 #AI systems will be capable of writing #code like mid-level engineers. Eventually AI engineers will build most of the code and AI in apps, replacing human engineers] #futureofwork Haider.

Success isn’t luck—it’s persistence. Fail, learn, try again. Every ‘overnight success’ has years of effort behind it.

There are no rigorous studies yet on how to best prompt reasoning models like o1. They are not chat models, they are designed so that you give them a question and you get an answer. You want to give them context, etc. but we don’t know what the optimal way to do that is yet.

Ethan Mollick (@emollick) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I see formulas and prompting techniques being passed around virally, just like we saw in the early days of ChatGPT. Are these the best approaches? Are they even good? We don’t know yet.
