For our final #NationalParkWeek post we note some of the pioneers who made the NPS what it is today - along with President Harding, this image from our holdings shows SecInt Hubert Work, NPS Director Stephen Mather, and Yellowstone Supt Horace Albright at Yellowstone National Park.
The iconic #Route66 stretched from Chicago to Los Angeles and was a main artery for travelers for many years. Although the highway was officially decommissioned in 1985, the stories of the road and its incredible history still remain.

It’s the perfect season to stroll through the usbotanicgarden. The First Ladies played a vital role in creating the garden we cherish today. Here, some of them are seated together at a 1994 gala in their honor. catalog.archives.gov/id/183373942 National Mall NPS #NationalParkWeek
For #NationalParkWeek & #FunFriday , we're highlighting the end of the original Natchez Trace: the King's Tavern in Natchez, MS, where the first mail in the U.S. was delivered.

The look of the guitar has evolved over the years! Here we have an 1831 patent drawing of a very tall guitar from E. N. Sherr. Note that the original drawing for this patent was destroyed by a fire in the Patent Office in 1836.

April 27 is National #BabeRuthDay , when baseball fans celebrate baseball’s all-time greatest player. It originated on April 27, 1947, when the new Commissioner of Baseball Albert “Happy” Chandler proclaimed it at Yankee Stadium. ⚾
