No, seriously, Uber is deciding what driver gets what job based on their weight, whether they ever missed a payment, what political associations they have.

Algorithmic wage discrimination should be made illegal before it becomes the dominant business model.

It can take years of advanced training in economics, but sadly it is possible to lose the basic moral intuition behind 'equal pay for equal work.'

Grateful for the chance to meet with drivers from across the country and learn about their efforts to organize and tackle challenges they face with gig platforms, from declining pay rates to opaque algorithms to arbitrary suspensions. Thanks to SEIU & 32BJ SEIU /// #BuildingJustice 🧹✊🏽 for convening.

The median wage for gig workers under California's misclassification law is $6.20/hr. The wage floor is $4.10. Drivers would earn $11/hr and receive guaranteed healthcare and benefits as employees.

'Most gig drivers don't even want to be employees.'

Noncompetes in health care can trap doctors and nurses in bad workplaces that compromise patient care and deprive patients of their trusted doctors if they have to leave the area for a new job. FTC’s ban would save $74-$194 billion in reduced healthcare spending.
