Boris Johnson said in 2004 that he would eat his ID at a polling station in protest if the law ever required it.

In 2022, he passed a law requiring ID to vote and dismissed criticism it would stop people voting.

In 2024, he forgot his ID when trying to vote and was turned away.

This is obviously a problem journalists have had with Trump for a long time, but I feel like you shouldn’t print something misleading in the headline just because someone important said it.

As irritating as this is for anyone who understands elections or maths, it's a bizarre line for No 10 to pursue given Labour are desperate to avoid complacency about a big win.
