In a long list of very very funny things about this: why did they blow up the cover? Are A4s more threatening? Surely, radical zines are that A5 size, no? I'm going to need the material history of the book people to weigh in.

What we're seeing on college campuses is extraordinary bravery by the students who have the courage to escalate a movement—BDS—that has been sustained by activists and college students for years, operating in part on the South African apartheid model. This is how movements work.

So sad to learn of the death of the brilliant C. J. Sansom. It doesn’t seem possible that it was twenty-one years ago that his brilliant lawyer-detective Matthew Shardlake swept into my life. I’ve spent immeasurable blissful hours lost in his works. Rest in power, Chris.

A performance of Hamlet where they do that lewd hip thrusting Shakespearean actors do to let you know they said an innuendo but for every single individual word of the play

One thing I found interesting was that the protest organisers studied the Columbia archives to learn from the 1968 protest movement. They copied their tactics and later invited some 1968 vets to campus.

Story on that here:

£267,819. That's what ASN has spent to help people in Ireland travel for abortions in the 5 years since the laws changed.

Is this where you thought Repeal would leave us?

Two interesting and important museum return stories in the UK this week, which illustrate some of the stories of loss around colonisation and collecting, but also the generative potential of restitution and repatriation.

Notice what Pence wrote there about 'later-term abortions,' too. Last year, I started tracking how Republicans were starting to define anything after the first trimester as a 'late' abortion. ('Late abortion' is not a medical term)

Mike Pence's NYT op-ed is a perfect example of why I publish Abortion, Every Day: His column uses pretty much every language trick I've warned about for the last two years.

He also repeats debunked lies about abortion that I sort of can't believe made it past a fact-checker…
