Yesterday, Michaelle C. Solages and I passed a bill in honor of my cousin Desha, who died at just 12 after going into cardiac arrest at school. The equiptment to save her was there, but no one knew how to use it. This bill ensures that will never happen again. For Desha. For every child.

Yesterday my office learned of the June 17th incident involving firearms at Tops Markets on Jefferson Ave. I look forward to the Buffalo Police Department responding to the questions and concerns posed by local residents.

Approximately 2,000 children and adolescents in the United States die each year from sudden cardiac arrest. Desha’s Law will save youth athletes and students across our state.
