Staff are leaving disability services for primary care because they have better options in regards to promotion and progression...meanwhile children with complex needs are languishing for years on waiting lists and the tiny window for successful intervention slams shut.

Experience in the Mental Health sector is a requirement in the Doctorate of Ed Psych Mary Butler TD & many qualified trainee Educational Psychologists work in this field! Feeling under-appreciated and misunderstood as I head to my placement in Mental Health services tomorrow!

Thank you to Senator Emer Currie inactive account for continuing to be a powerful advocate for trainee educational psychologists in the Oireachtas & backing Psychological Society of Ireland campaign for #psychequity to ensure no trainees are left behind #mypsi

"They need to be valued for what they are doing" Emer Currie inactive account highlighting the unjustified continued inequity experienced by trainee educational psychologists

This is a worrying response from Department of Education and Youth to Emer Currie inactive account that they believe that the issue is only about fees when there has been years of advocacy by Psychological Society of Ireland highlighting it’s about salary & fees. They might find a resolution quicker if they’d agree to meet

Great to see some funding for Year 3 Trainee Educational & Child Psychologists in MIC & UCD from Department of Education and Youth. More details about how this funding is allocated will be interesting, and how true equality in funding will be made for the 3 psychology disciplines

"Its inexplicable that trainee educational psychologists are expected to train for free for three years & pay thousands in fees each year, this is a direct impediment to attracting candidates to the profession” independent.ie/irish-news/edu…

The amount of kids in this country that have spent years on waiting lists for services due to the shortage of psychologists and the government can’t even support the people who want to fill those roles…

📢 Calling all Educational Psychologists! I am still recruiting EPs as part of my doctoral research on attitudes towards the neurodiversity paradigm. Please email me at [email protected] to express your interest in participating. #twitterEPs

Thank you Dr Tom Clonan for highlighting this issue, given years of shortages of professionally trained psychologists commencing a new course with such a restrictive range of employment prospects just to NEPS is very short sighted
