Finishing day 1 of HOBART2023 this afternoon with our guest speakers: Prof. Mary-Anne Lea (Prof. Mary-Anne Lea, IMAS), Dr Brian Miller (AAD), Dr Karen Evans (karen evans, CSIRO) and Dr David Hocking (Dr David Hocking, TMAG). Thank you all for such informative, diverse and amazing talks!



Day 2 is here at our HOBART2023 conference! Starting with a workshop and discussion on linkages between marine predators and their prey in a changing environment lead by incredible talks from Dr David Green (David Green) and Noémie Friscourt (Noémie Friscourt)

Onto our third workshop topic this morning learning all about species distribution modelling & biologging techniques with student talks from Angus Henderson, Sarah McCulloch and Valeria Serafini, followed by an amazing discussion panel with David Green and Ashley.


Our last workshop topic & panel discussion for day 2 was on Populations & Future Projections, with great talks by @SophiaVolzke, Vanessa Morris, Alexandra Strang & Kennadie Haigh demonstrating the different methodologies we can use to study marine mammals at population scales!


HUGE shoutout to our incredible University of Tasmania chapter head & SMM(SMM Student Affairs) SMaL @SophiaVolzke, thank you for all your help with on-ground organisation & leading today's workshop discussions but also for a great talk on her PhD research on southern elephant seals!
