"Love your neighbor as yourself" assumes a healthy self-dignity. Likewise, the Golden Rule--do unto others as you would have them do unto you--assumes a baseline of self-respect. The implied Golden Mirror is that you treat yourself with the same kindness as you would a friend.

Christ incarnated in the world, fully man, without ceasing to be fully God. Christ ascended to heaven, fully God, without ceasing to be man. God with us, humanity with God, in Christ.

For Plato, heaven was a realm of abstract objects -- or "forms" -- that were timeless, spaceless, and could only be accessed by reason. But for the Christian, there is a flesh-and-bone man, the ascended Christ, in heaven, whom we can access by faith.

On our own, we earn an F (Filthy rags, Isa. 64:6). In Christ, we’re given an A (Accepted, Eph. 1:6). God is a gracious grader!

Every semester, I take a class. Last year it was ancient Greek. Tomorrow, I'm joining a PhD seminar on the history of interpretation of Genesis 1 & 2. I'm excited to dive into the Biblical text and learn how the church has wrestled with it over the ages. Expect related tweets.

God revealed his name to Moses: 'ehyeh 'asher 'ehyeh. Which may be translated: "I was who I was": remember God's faithfulness, "I am who I am": trust God's goodness, "I will be who I will be": wait for God to act.
