I was very lucky to find this. Each guttation droplet has its own little vortex ... Some mushrooms can create their own thermals that actively eject the spores. The drops have captured this process. (the Netherlands) #mushroomtwitter

Good news! This is the first time a marine fish has been recognised as a protected species in Irish waters. We hope it will be the first of many! 🦈 rte.ie/news/2022/1003…

🚨 JUST RELEASED from the North American Bird Conservation Initiative: The State of the Birds, USA. It's bad news for most species, except waterbirds/fowl, where conservation efforts have made a huge impact. Read the report here stateofthebirds.org/2022/

If I had 44 billion dollars lying around I would simply help fishermen replace their equipment with ropeless fishing gear to prevent marine life entanglements & give North Atlantic right whales a chance (instead of wasting it on an app that costs exactly zero dollars to use).

It's #GIVINGTUESDAY today, and what better day could there be to sponsor your favourite Wild Ontario bird? Better yet, the University of Guelph Alumni Association is matching all donations up to $10,000! 👇

Now this is cool. Turkey Vultures have yellow dietary carotenoids in their red head skin. The carotenoids probably don’t affect the color, but serve as antioxidants to protect against UV damage.

Though it was once standard to contain a window strike bird & let it rest for a few hours before attempting release, research has now shown this is inadequate. Many of the issues we see with window strikes manifest 24+ hours after the strike, long after the bird can fly off.

Wisdom, the world’s oldest known wild bird, recently returned to Midway Atoll! The beloved Laysan albatross, or mōlī, is at least 71 years old. Biologists first identified and banded Wisdom in 1956 after she laid an egg, and the large seabirds aren’t known to breed before age 5.

Just a quick reminder that the Bearded Vulture exists. Widely regarded as the most metal of all birds, 90% of its diet is just straight up BONES. It even eats owl pellets just to obtain the sweet, delicious bones within. ☠️ 📷 Marc Gálvez, eBird
