This kind of hyper realism is creatively bankrupt. Imagine having such technical ability and then using it to create an uninspiring facsimile of a photo of a hot woman. It's the artistic equivalent of having Baryshnikov work in data entry.

We are currently seeing an active and drastic decline in the quality and usability of UIs on almost every platform. There's a limit to how user friendly you can make a product before it starts to circle back around towards inaccessibility (talking to you, Acrobat).

While I'm on the subject of old posters... a periodic reminder that I've been maintaining an open-source spreadsheet of design archives, ephemera, etc. since 2019! Lots of fun stuff like this in there and always looking for more recs to add <3 bit.ly/casualarchivist

I am watching a toddler die on a table in a field hospital in Rafah with half her face blown apart while listening to college students fight tears reporting on a police assault on their campus for protesting that, and I feel like I am losing my fucking mind.

Policing is fundamentally anti-academic and seeing them storm campus buildings and assault and arrest students is to witness such a distinct brand of American violence. I am so proud of this country's students.

There is nothing quite so End Times coded as the people in power tweeting about pressing, fixable issues like "WON'T SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING, PLEASE?!?!"
