“This study confirmed that small areas of urban wildflowers have a high concentration of pollinating insects, and are as valuable to many pollinators as larger areas of natural meadow that you would typically find rurally.” theguardian.com/environment/20…

.U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed to designate 1,635,746 acres of land as critical habitat for the rusty patched bumble bee! This prohibits any habitat damage or destruction from any federally funded or permitted activities, and is a great step towards recovery! 🐝

Reporting jobs like this don't come along often in B.C. Join The CP team as Victoria Correspondent, a position which comes complete with the B.C. Legislature desk of the legendary Dirk Meissner, who's retiring. And if it's not for you, please share! apply.workable.com/the-canadian-p…

Omg Zakir! You're not alone. I did the same and got the exact same response! Which meant I skipped over Cllr Klassen's Fortis stake as per Dan Fumano's reporting. Glad to hear I'm in good company.

🧵We are alarmed at the persistent and escalating patterns of harassment and intimidation directed towards Canadian journalists who dare to report on contentious topics in the public interest. One recent example occurred this past weekend with journalist Rachel Gilmore. (1/5)

Yup that was me & Zakir Jamal 😂😂😂: “When some members of the public who addressed council this week on natural gas raised the subject of lobbying and Grewal’s business interests, they were cut off by the chair and encouraged to stay on topic.” vancouversun.com/opinion/column…

We finally have an explanation for 2023’s record-breaking temperatures #terminationshock A decline in low-lying cloud cover means Earth is absorbing more solar radiation, which could explain 0.2°C of missing heat scientists have been struggling to account for

Suggesting we have ‘world-class tenant protections’ is false + irresponsible. This is an embarrassing post from an elected official + shows how our council lives in a privileged bubble. Shame. #VanPoli #bcpoli

As someone who lived through the CO fires (old neighborhood gone, new house was .5 mile), here are some things that are going to happen: -cleanup crews are going spray special green foam over the sites to stop wind from picking up toxic ash -Use PPE if you touch it or ash.

Area burned by wildfires in Canada in 2025 has already SURPASSED the average we typically see in an entire year. We average about 2.1 million hectares per year, but have already eclipsed 2.6 million hectares. And it's only early June. 🇨🇦🔥

STORY: They are Canada's secret speed limits. It will be 35 C in B.C. After the 2021 Lytton fire, Ottawa required rail companies to set speed limits for trains on hot weather days like today. But no one will publicly say what those speed limits are. thetyee.ca/News/2025/08/1…
