Facebook reminded me that 3 years ago today, my 7 yr old was finally allowed to go back to school after being shut out for 2 months, but my 10 yr old wasn’t. Wonder if that shitshow of a policy (dreamed up by people without kids) saved a single life? Maybe Nicola Sturgeon knows.

Is John Swinney and the Scottish Government still pretending online learning was just fine and that closing schools for months on end wasn’t a disaster? Plenty of people did try to tell them.

This 👇🏻. My 13 year old struggles with maths, while excelling in other subjects like English, languages and social subjects. Yet most university courses she wants to do want a B pass at Nat 5 maths as a minimum, despite having absolutely nothing to do with maths.

Can I suggest something? Start by apologising for closing schools for longer than anywhere else in Europe(bar Italy), & stop pretending it wasn’t a total disaster. Some parents now think school is optional because you gaslit them that schools being shut for 6 mths was no big deal

Compulsion, emotional blackmail and coercion were always terrible ideas, especially around children’s Covid vaccines (I’m looking at you, Nicola Sturgeon, egged on by EIS). How exactly do our governments plan to regain public trust?

At the time, as a Sturgeon fan, I was outraged at this. Now? I think she was probably right.

This thread shows that a section of the population would be perfectly happy with blatant discrimination against people with learning disabilities, neurodivergence or other conditions that mean they can’t work quite as fast as others. How did we as a society get here?

The number of people in the comments who don’t understand the main point of breakfast clubs (i.e. not the food, but the pre-school childcare which makes finding/staying in work easier) is seriously worrying. These are likely the same people who moan about people on benefits 🥴

Before Christmas we covered the Baroness Amos report into maternity and neonatal care. It was pretty horrific reading. Women not being listened to - mums and babies being harmed or even dying when they shouldn't be. And perhaps the most depressing thing of all... absolutely
