They’re driving people away from engaging with government & into destitution and exploitation. They’re manufacturing a wave of exploitation that will permeate every community, every neighbourhood, people living in awful conditions. The damage they’re inflicting is irreparable.

After 10.5 years, I’ve been laid off by openDemocracy.

This round of redundancy included most of the UK team. Three longstanding sections - oDR, ourEconomy and democraciaAbierta - were all also shut/mothballed in the last 6 months: a total of 21 journalists redundant.
