Today, October 20, is the birthday of Alexandria “Lexi” Aniyah Rubio. She should be 12 but died at 10 in the Uvalde shooting. Ambitious, intelligent, and athletic, Lexi was a straight A student. Her family described her as sarcastic yet caring, giving, and fierce.

Today, Oct 22, is the birthday of Scott J. Beigel. He should be 41 but died at 35 in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. He was a geography teacher, fiancé, a x-country coach, a brother, a camp counselor, a friend, a mentor, a son, & ultimately a life-saving hero.

At least 30 Maine school districts and colleges are closed today because lawmakers chose to give dangerous men unfettered access to weapons of war. We don’t have to live like this. We don’t have to die like this.
