Parents pay more today than they did before Trump’s first tariff announcement. And it's not just tariffs. Companies are using the chaos as an excuse to hike prices, while House Republicans push a massive tax giveaway to the rich, Angela Hanks told Ashonti Ford Gray Media Washington News Bureau.

Just to recap, the tax bill will: ✅ Cut taxes for billionaires and corporations while kicking millions off Medicaid ✅ Be a windfall for predatory companies that stand to profit from cuts to public investment ✅ Raise costs for working people Seems bad?

Congress is proposing changes that will bring private student lending roaring back. At the same time, CFPB is letting industry players off the hook for their past misdeeds. The signal to lenders couldn't be clearer: it's open season on student loan borrowers.

The outsized power of big corporations resonates because people experience it every day. My little town is working toward municipal broadband this year, and it's not red tape that poses the biggest obstacle: it's a well-funded pressure campaign by Comcast.

“an unnamed senior administration official…said that they “represent cost savings for regulated parties” — in other words, banks and other corporations.” Turns out the DOGE dividend is something working people pay to corporations nytimes.com/2025/05/30/us/…

I don’t claim to know the right path forward for the Democratic Party. But I’m confident the answer won’t come from DC conferences or exclusive mountaintop retreats, or from disparaging labor unions or young people.

Artificial scarcity is profitable, which can incentivize corporations to block abundance. Across our economy, from airlines to builders, companies can make more money by deliberately limiting supply & access and charging higher prices. Concentration fuels this dynamic.

Credit scores plunging because of reporting student loan defaults to agencies after a 5 year pause. For millions of working class Americans it's now harder to get a car, a mortgage, a cellphone, a credit line. newsweek.com/millions-ameri…

Cruelty in service of corporate power, always: Pay no attention to price discrimination destroying Main Street, pay no attention to surveillance wages, pay no attention to corporate price gouging, pay no attention to rampant misclassification. . . Let’s go bully trans kids.

Holy crap. According to CBO, by the end of the 10 years, fully 81% of the total benefit of the GOP's budget bill goes to the richest 1/10th, while the bottom 40% will pay more.

Truly couldn't have created a better vehicle to drive inequality if they tried. This bill will very clearly increase costs for working people and most certainly result in a massive increase in consumer debt, too
