Today marks the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. Tonight I joined with with the Lord Mayor Cllr. Rachel Lancaster, Counsellor Kentaro Kaneto from the Embassy of Japan and many others Coventry Cathedral in a service of remembrance.
Today I joined veterans, fellow Cllrs, the Deputy Lord Mayor and others War Memorial Park to mark the 80th anniversary of #VJDay. I’m particularly remembering my Grandad, William Hopkins, who served as a Signalman on HMS Redoubt in the war in the East.
Great to be joined by Lady Godiva and Mary Creagh CBE MP for the awards for the Coventry Libraries and Information Service 📚 #SummerReadingChallenge2025 at Caludon Library today. Well done to all who completed the challenge and thank you to all the library staff who organised the challenge and a lovely event.
Intersex people often face harmful medical interventions without consent, as well as discrimination, stigma and violence. At the United Nations Human Rights Council, Nada Al-Nashif presented UN Human Rights' recommendations to help States put an end to these abuses. #HRC60
