JUST IN: In a training video the NCAA Coordinator of Officials sent to referees and coaches, it was clarified that the controversial Matt Collison one-handed goal on Saturday should NOT have counted. Johns Hopkins went on to win, 9-8, vs. Maryland.

🚨BREAKING: NCAA Coordinator of Officials Tom Abbott confirms Johns Hopkins Men's Lacrosse midfielder Matt Collison’s goal vs Maryland should NOT have counted 👀 By rule, if a player throws his crosse intentionally or not and the ball goes in, it’s no goal and a penalty.

Coach John Tillman threw his challenge flag on this play, but officials deemed it unreviewable. Collison threw his crosse, which, by NCAA rule, should have negated the goal.

Tillman on the situation: "There's thousands of plays in that game, and we didn't play well enough, and we made too many mistakes. So that's on us." "That's one particular play, and I think the officials have a really tough job."

Well that’s nice. I bet they will use this as a “learning tool” and move on while teams deal with the consequences.
