Yes, the European Commission gave a green light to start construction of one of the lanes of the Struma Motorway outside Kresna Gorge. BUT only if it doesn't obstruct a second lane outside... which means #Bulgaria has to start a new EIA.
The Corridor Vc motorway in #BIH is planned right through people's houses in Visit Konjic and the route cannot be changed according to authorities! A second case like the Kresna Gorge in #Bulgaria with money from The EBRD and European Investment Bank? The Struma motorway should have been ready in 2004 :)
How would you explain that the Eurasian Development Bank (Russian money), the World Bank, the EIB, the ADB, the AIIC are together trying to fund this damaging project? WorldBank European Investment Bank Asian Development Bank
The Nikopol-Turnu Magurele dam is not only dangerous, it is insane! Not only 280 km of the Danube would be submerged, but thousands of people would need to be displaced including half Nikopol! CEE Bankwatch Network International Rivers WWF EU Borislav Sandov Ulrich Eichelmann European Parliament
Unbelievable that the European Commission has prioritised the dinosaurial Turnu Magurele - Nikopol hydropower project on the Danube as a priority cross-border renewable energy project. The European Parliament and EU Council must step in and object. euractiv.com/section/politi…

I truly believe in the #BernConvention and hope the third and forth photo are not a preparation for the downlisting of the wolf. There are much more important work to do and political decisions at the European Commission should not spoil our nature-conservation work at the convention
This is a crucial decision. Rivers like the Vjosa, Drin, Neretva, Morača, Vardar, Danube support numerous endangered species and are vital for the livelihoods of local communities. They should be the backbone of the European network of protected sites. #EmeraldForRivers Council of Europe
