I have read a lot of ChatGPT output over the last few days and, yes, I am amazed at how often the output reads like something written by an “even-handed” both-sides-er who is repeating info they just learned and is trying really hard not to get roasted in the comments

We’re asking readers to not engage in any The New York Times platforms tomorrow and stand with us on the digital picket line! Read local news. Listen to public radio. Make something from a cookbook. Break your Wordle streak.

We have not engaged in this kind of collective action in decades. But we are tired and angry. Journalists and media workers have been giving companies concessions for decades only to see company profits squandered on stock buybacks and executive pay. Enough is enough!

We are unionized media workers because we are trying to save our publications. We are saving them for our readers. And our democracy. Every day we have an obligation to hold power to account and minimize harm. And we are doing that today.

To our readers: We did not make this decision lightly. We are deeply committed to the success of the The New York Times. We also know that we produce our best work when we feel valued and are treated equitably. Thank you for standing by us today.

I just rewatched Teenage Bounty Hunters (my favorite series in the Netflix One and Unjustly Done Graveyard), which no one has seen and which is perfect, so I’m really feeling this tweet.

Seeing big national newspapers decline to make a presidential endorsement because they don't want to risk Trump's retaliation if he wins is really dark. That's not something I ever expected to see in the United States.

obviously I have not really existed here for a while but feels like Bluesky is slowly achieving some kind of critical mass. Me: bsky.app/profile/andrew… Overdue book podcast: bsky.app/profile/overdu… Take care of yourselves and each other.
