It's another great day for 9 holes of "Caterpillar Golf!" Using lollipop paddles & gator skin balls, students work in small cooperative teams to complete holes on the golf course. Successful completion of 1 hole on golf course = 1 poly spot earned for caterpillar's body! #elempe

This week, our students are Jump Rope Ninjas...strengthening their hearts & calves while working towards illustrious "Black Belts" in PE! (We practice first & then open up for optional "testing.") Fun to see students master jump roping for the first time ever! #healthyhearts #pe

What a fun 2 weeks of jump roping at Easley! Grades K-5 have worked hard to master jumping a self-turned rope. Congratulations to ALL of our students who earned their various Jump Rope Ninja "Belts" - but a special shoutout to Kindergartener, Tianna, our very first Black Belt!🥋

Today is National Walk to School Day. Since not all of our students can safely walk to school, Easley is celebrating with special morning announcements, class discussions about safe/active routes to school, and class walks during recess and PE!

DPS Elementary PE teachers enjoyed hearing the #FunAtBat presentation from USA Baseball yesterday afternoon. Thank You, USA Baseball Develops for creating a program that focuses on literacy, character traits, and baseball/softball skills!

Stock Car Racing is the "State Sport" of North Carolina. This week, 4th Graders tested out their own speed, flexibility, & endurance as "drivers," "spotters," & members of the "pit crew." Can't wait to see the research & written products they are wrapping up w/EasleyYRMedia! #physed

"Over/Under Baseball" - We use a free bat from USA Baseball plus: a cone, gator ball, step aerobics block (base) & deck ring. Batter hits ball, runs back & forth to the base while fielders gather ball & complete "over/under." Get batter out by placing ball in deck ring! #funatbat

I love to see younger students' wheels churning when they first learn to skip -- for some, it is a very challenging skill to learn & master! Practicing skipping at home (or at recess!) is worthwhile... as is "practicing" reading! #learningtomove #movingtolearn

Got a hooper on your hands? Students aged 8-13 can participate in a FREE Basketball Free Throw Shooting Contest on Saturday, 1/14. Hosted by Elks Lodge 2005, the contest will be held at Sansbury Gym in Roxboro, NC (303 S. Morgan Street). Registration at 1:30pm, Contest at 2:00.

Combining classes & getting sweaty w/Mrs. Haas (Easley Music) has been a blast this week! Through various dance activities, our students in Grades K-5 are exploring connections between Music & Physical Education; emphasis on terms "form," "beat," and "cardiovascular endurance."

Today, my Kindergarten class "lined up" (to leave PE) a little differently than usual -- We wanted to make a special birthday message for their teacher to see when she arrived to pick them up from the gym! Any guesses as to how old their teacher is now? 🤔🧐 🥳
