Eid Mubarak.

Long-term peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians requires a two-state solution - Palestinian statehood with normalisation of relations between Israel and the region.

It requires recognition of each other’s right to exist. By definition that means no role for Hamas.

After Ramadan’s days of worship and fasting, Eid al-Fitr is a special time for Muslim Australians to come together as a community in prayer, hospitality and generosity.

This year the suffering in Gaza will mean many Muslim Australians will mark Eid al-Fitr with sorrow.

On Greek Independence Day, I send my very best wishes to our Greek Australian community and I look forward to the celebrations in the Greek Orthodox community of Whittlesea and across Australia!

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination provides all Australians with an occasion to celebrate our vibrant multiculturalism and reflect on how each of us, and more of us, can do more to help stamp out racism in our communities.

I extend warm greetings to Australians celebrating Nowruz.

Nowruz coincides with Harmony Week, during which we celebrate our vibrant multicultural society.

May the spirit of Nowruz reaffirm our commitment to embrace cultural diversity and difference as a source of strength.

Every year in March, Australians come together to mark Harmony Week, culminating in the observance of the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on the 21st of March.

Australia is unpausing funding for UNRWA. We are also contributing to humanitarian air drops, and providing urgent help to UNICEF and the Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza.
