Huge congratulations to Kevin Curley for winning the Daniel Phelan Award for Outstanding Achievement at our #CharityAwards last night. For 40+ years grassroots voluntary action has shaped Kevin's career; what a contribution he has made - locally, nationally and internationally x.com/Charity_Awards…
In 19 years of the #CharityAwards we've never had a standing ovation like that given last night to overall winners Who Cares? Scotland Humbling. Powerful. The heartbeat of UK civil society. Outstanding leadership and compassion from duncan dunlop and Kevin Browne. x.com/whocaresscot/s…

A big thank you to Jim Clifford OBE FRSA of @BWBCharitySocEn for his excellent social investment lecture today to our @CassCCE charity MSc students. Great to learn from him - even if it is a beautiful sunny day outside.
.Kate Lee has some of the best insight I've seen on why penny-in-the-pound ratios are pointless and what to do about it. I hope others support CLIC Sargent in encouraging the public not to compare charities by what they spend. Leadership from Comic Relief would be valuable
Mandatory reading from andrew purkis explaining the operational reality behind the Oxfam case. Senior charity leaders must make complex value judgements every day. They don't always get it right. How many of us would have done a better job than those now so harshly criticised?
Thank you to @juliaunwin for capturing so well the immense contribution Tessa made to the sector over so many years, not least in her roles at @Baring_Found and Barnardo’s
Oxfam and its former leaders have been unfairly vilified. I want to offer an alternative perspective. In fact Oxfam responded decisively to the unacceptable events in Haiti, the charity’s values weren’t ignored, and there was no cover up. My analysis here. civilsociety.co.uk/voices/andrew-…
This article by Andrew Hind comprehensively refutes the case made by media and the Charity Commission against Oxfam’s leadership who appear to have responded promptly to address the unacceptable behaviour of staff in Haiti civilsociety.co.uk/voices/andrew-…

Well worth reading this balanced and insightful assessment by caron bradshaw (she/her) of yesterday’s charity support package announced by the Chancellor. So elegantly written too - which adds to its impact. #EveryDayCounts
Why was the chancellor so reluctant to bail out charities? As ever, a searingly honest appraisal from David Ainsworth, one of the sector’s pre-eminent writers. medium.com/@daveainsworth…
Fantastic and passionate critique from Danny Sriskandarajah on the UK govt’s shameful refugee policies. Important point that he notes - UK helped write the refugee convention and for years underpinned the global refugee system…now undermining it instead.
#hoolie23 Lots of talk rightly about which Hebridean Islands were represented at the Hydro last night. My wife and I came up from the Isle of Wight in the Deep South, to show Island solidarity! What a great night. Many thanks Hebridean Baker Julie Fowlis and all performers.
All credit to Joe Saxton for all the time and experience he has put into making these thoughts on charity strategic planning available free to the whole sector.
The Charity Commission is an independent regulator accountable to parliament, not government. Its credibility relies on everyone perceiving it to be politically neutral. Culture, Media and Sport Committee therefore right not to endorse Tina Stowell appointment. Talented person, completely wrong role. x.com/civilsocietyuk…
