Embedded dev is 10x more satisfying than web development to me… but damn I just spent 5 minutes trying to figure out how to make this chip count 5 seconds

I think people really don't appreciate just how incomplete Linux kernel API docs are, and how Rust solves the problem. I wrote a pile of Rust abstractions for various subsystems. For practically every single one, I had to read the C source code to understand how to use its API.

Almost every thread about Rust for Linux ends up with someone saying "why not Zig instead"? And usually the answer is just "it's less mature" or "nobody pushed it". I didn't know anything about Zig, so I decided to take a look today... and I'm not very impressed ^^;;

rustls outperforms OpenSSL and BoringSSL. Security and performance: pick two! Both handshake latency and throughput were better in the latest version of rustls compared to latest OpenSSL/BoringSSL. See blog post for more details, below.

Rerun 0.20 is out! 🗺📍🎥 It adds early support for geospatial data with the new GeoPoints and GeoLineStrings archetypes and a map view. It also adds H.264 video support to the native viewer together with many performance and stability improvements for video in Rerun.

Currently writing a Rust app w/ multiple real-time threads, SIMD, hand-rolled sync primitives, and some unsafe. It has been *so* easy, bugs have been silly logic problems I made because I’m prototyping. I don’t get the rust hate, IMO it’s *the* language when performance matters

I really like these kinds of murder mysteries. TLDR: use only Rust for new embedded projects to prevent unimaginable amount of pain and suffering for everyone.

Not long ago, I used to have a more optimistic impression of Rust users. I would not have guessed that so many otherwise-judicious people would go for blatantly AI-"maintained" Rust libraries. The `serde_yml` crate is a fork of a high-quality but unmaintained library. In the
