When diseases are heavily mediated by the environment, the best medicine might not be medicine at all. Read how De Leo Lab uses predator prawns 🦐 to control the spread of schistosomiasis by hunting the snails that carry the disease - via Stanford Magazine: bit.ly/42wROej

📣 We're Hiring! 📣 Looking for a #postdoc in #Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases. Investigate the effects of land use change on vector-borne disease Stanford University using field data from Madre de Dios, Peru. 🌱 FY24 min. $71,650 🌱 Apply: stanford.io/3qoK14n

Great to see this solution for #schistosomiasis control out in the wild. Thanks to Nathan Lo, Ben Arnold and Nature News & Views for helping it reach a wider audience!

I spent much of my time at Stanford Woods Institute thinking about win-win solutions for health and the environment and how to achieve them. This is an exciting example demonstrated by Rohr Ecology Lab + colleagues on a disease (#schistosomiasis) in a place (🇸🇳) close to my heart.

Out in nature: an exciting ✨win-win-win✨ intervention to #beatNTDs, control invasive vegetation and reduce agrochemical use in #Senegal 🙌 Kudos to Rohr Ecology Lab for leading this work. Honored to have contributed a small piece (field data from my dissertation Stanford University🌲)

Over 270K dengue cases were reported to Africa CDC in 2023. Our new Nature Communications paper shows that past dengue lineages were introduced into Africa by multiple recent importations, mainly from Asia/East Asia. Targeting networks of spread may help prevent future outbreaks! #Dengue
