The police is effectively enforcing a media registration system by narrowing their own definition of “media” and recognising only gov-registered news outlets. This paves the way for even more arrests/ charges against student journalists/ online media reporters covering protests.

HK police now decided that they would not recognize Journalist Association's credentials - they're now amending definition of "media" in their policies. Disclaimer: awaiting more info &/or legal opinion on this

Although "Police General Orders" are not legally binding, screening of #media is a direct assault to #FreedomOfThePress & to principles of #1Country2Systems. Online media will carry on the duty to report, continue exercising their freedom. We stand w/ #Journalists in solidarity.

The arrest of #JoshuaWong, one of the leading figures of the #HongKong democracy movement, again shows China's total contempt for democracy and the freedom of speech. We must react and #StandWithHongkong Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) dw.com/en/hong-kong-p…

Joshua Wong was arrested because he’s standing up for democratic values against a violent dictatorship that can’t handle freedom loving citizens. He must be released. ⁦刘晓明Liu Xiaoming⁩ ⁦Hong Kong SAR Government News⁩ #StandWithHongKong thetimes.co.uk/article/democr…

A pro-democracy activist in Hong Kong was arrested for violating a mask ban at a protest last year. Joshua Wong suggested that the authorities had political motives for charging him, at a time when the coronavirus has made mask-wearing ubiquitous. nyti.ms/330DIGh
