Bull market, bear market
I could never remember which was which and here is the way to remember it: when bulls attack they swipe up, and when bears attack they swipe down — just like their respective markets.

Data avoids arguments. It's why I love this quote from W. Edwards Deming:
'Without data you're just another person with an opinion.'

Or as Jim Barksdale, former Netscape CEO, said:
'If we have data, let's look at data. If all we have are opinions, let's go with mine.'

👋🏻 hey all, your friendly neighborhood enby is once again looking for a job. If you have any leads, please send them my way!

TL;DR: best tech stack is TypeScript + React, I care about accessibility and inclusion and hope your product strategy and company culture does too!

Fahrenheit and Celsius.

It's interesting to think that for most of history there was no comparable way to say how hot or cold something was.

I like to roughly convert between them using minus 32, divide by 2 (or a little less to be closer) and vice versa.

As the metaphor goes, you may feel you have no time to stop and sharpen the saw. Until you do it, and then you may realise you have no time to not stop and sharpen the saw.

Sharpen the saw is habit 7 of Steven Covey's classic The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Halfalogue: hearing only half of a conversation. Like that time when you couldn't concentrate thanks to the person on a call right next to you.

Hearing only one side of a conversation, it turns out, can be more distracting than hearing the whole dialogue.

Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of human needs.

Maslow continued to refine his original framework. For all its flaws — it always provokes discussion and counter-arguments in my experience — it's remained a clarifying and remarkably enduring model.

Thought experiment: if you were to borrow something, would it make a difference if you returned a different one?
If you borrowed my car, you could return it with a different tank of fuel (fungible) but if you returned a different used car (non-fungible) that would be rather odd.
