Wow! The judge's summation after 7x Just Stop Oil supporters were found guilty of aggravated trespass is simply extraordinary: "You should feel guilty for nothing. You should feel proud that you care, have concern for the future." Read it in full... juststopoil.org/2023/02/16/you…

We need to talk about the 18-25 age bracket for opportunities and why it doesn't work for artists who lost 3 years of development to the pandemic ✌️

On reflection about the felling of #SycamoreGap Can we please channel the same energy & anger we feel against the one (or more) who wielded the chainsaw into galvanising against the current government who are destroying our rivers, our wildlife, our trees, our communities our 🌍

After a lot of work and countless 5am starts, it’s AMAZING to have received my advanced copies of The Osprey prior to publication on 29th Feb. Thanks so much to Bloomsbury Wildlife for doing such a brilliant job. What an honour to have contributed to this iconic series.

Creative Industries make up 6% of our economy: more than car and oil industries together. They employ 2.3million people. To cut funding is fudge-brained, cack-hearted thinking pitched very much at the highest level of economic self-harm. theguardian.com/education/2024…

Such an important point. If mainstream don’t cover important stories about nature crisis people will take action to get the attention!

There are so many amazing books that to make it to the long list of The Wainwright Prizes is a real delight. Congratulations to all who have got this far! In particular my Bloomsbury Wildlife stable mate Chantal Lyons

I'm a week late on here, but absolutely delighted that Hugh Warwick's Cull of the Wild is on the Wainwright longlist, alongside all these fantastic books. Congratulations Hugh!

The longest sentence handed down to a violent racist rioter this week is shorter than the sentences imposed on entirely peaceful environmental protesters last month. Labour must repeal the Tory laws that treat peaceful protest more severely than violent disorder and assault.

Important thread. We're trying to be adaptive using old models of thought applied to new technology. I don't think that's going to work in the long run.

Imagine if they spent £22 billion on restoring peat bogs, the oceans, forests (proven carbon capture), or on public transport, insulation, solar – literally anything but this, which is just playing into the hands of the fossil fuel bros and delaying the transition to green energy

Never forget that we had all the scientific evidence we needed to act on global warming over 50 years ago, but the fossil fuel industry spent millions to spread disinformation and block climate action. Global warming isn’t a tragedy, it’s a crime.
