The Lady of Loreto Chapel at the La Bahía Presidio is the original historic building on site. Daily mass is still attended by the lovley woman now in her 90’s who sat for the artist who painted the altarpiece in the 1960s. The Alamo #TexasRevroadtrip24 #teacherskipday

The site of the Goliad Massacre on Palm Sunday, March 1836. One of the bloodiest chapters in Texas' quest for independence from Mexico. The massacre prompted, "Remember Goliad, Remember the Alamo” heard at the Battle of San Jacinto. The Alamo @texasrevroadtrip24 #txteachers

The beautiful plants at the Presido La Bahia are also practical. The Century Agave Plant blooms only as its dying, its needles used to sew, its leaves for rug fiber, agave for a long day. In the Asparagaceae family… yup asparagus. The Alamo #texasrevroadtrip24 #txteachers

The Presidio la Bahai Anacua trees (nicknamed sandpaper trees) are so useful! The leaves can be used as sandpaper (they feel like a cats tongue), the wood is perfect for hammer handles, oxen yokes, and straight branches for arrows. The Alamo #texasrevroadtrip24 #txteachers
