A weekend of self-care with my sweet boys Zippy and Slo Poke! Bring on the 2020-2021 school year!!!

I walked down an empty hallway today & heard teachers interacting with their online classes so loudly... it gave me chills Virtual learning has its challenges.. but I'm starting to realize how truly important & revolutionary the work we are currently doing is.. ✨

What a wonderful surprise awaiting the staff and students at Jane Addams today. It was so fantastic having the kindergarteners back today!!!!

In all the craziness of 2020, I am thankful for all the different people in my life that always seem to come along in different ways, at different times...but always at the right time. For all the encouragement, laughter or tears...I am nothing but grateful.

I am so grateful to my Jane Addams family for spoiling me for Boss’s Day. I have never been comfortable with being called “boss”. I prefer to think of myself as a cheerleader, advocate, encourager to those who do the work that changes the world one student at a time.

Please, stop saying things like “this family doesn’t speak a lick of English” or “they barely speak English!” That is an immediate deficit mindset, let’s acknowledge languages as an asset, “she speaks Hindi” values the language(s) they do have. #linguisticequality #multilingual
