Me: Chamber you enter the chamber, across from you atop a gilded throne, an elegantly dressed wizard, he begins to speak... OP: I charge Me: okay, you drop into the spike pit cutting across the center of the room you that interrupted me before I could tell you about.

Super basic #DnD DM tip: If only one success is required, the more rolls you allow the more likely success becomes. If only one failure is required, the more rolls you allow the less likely success becomes.

This opinion is totally alien to me. Which is funny, because I was once an optimiser (I wrote a Warforged guide for 4e), but I found that white room theorycrafting didn't actually add anything to the experience at the table.

Have a brand new player in my #dnd game. I'm worried he's not going to like it, I run a pretty niche high role-playing, low but ultra deadly combat game. Going to talk to him about it, get a read on how he's feeling after session zero.

It's sad to see how many #DnD players are conditioned to expect a bad experience. I had a player get frustrated with me because I wouldn't tell them where to go and what to do. Me putting that power in their hands was so alien they thought I was withholding something from them.

I am currently the only GM on StartPlaying running a Free Kriegsspiel Revolution game. I don't know if that's a flex, but I'm going to act like it is. PS: thanks to the team for adding the tag.

When I run a game I don't want to just facilitate some players' fantasy. But that very thing has become the default assumption for #DnD DMs.

Why is it normal to have such an adversarial relationship with your DM in #DnD that you need to batter them into submission? And DMs, why is it normal to have single solution answers? If your player can't use creativity to solve problems, you're doing it wrong.

I really can't understand, after all that's happened with #DnD, how people are still surprised by this nonsense. DnD isn't special, play one of the million other games out there written by a human you can respect.
